About Us
Welcome to the online home of the nationally ranked Darien High School Blue Wave
boys lacrosse team. Every season the team embarks on a mission striving to continue
the tradition of excellence that is embedded within the program. We are what we
repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit. This program has a habit
of succeeding.
The Wave is led by Jeff Brameier who this spring completed his 43rd season as the
head coach who has guided the program since becoming a varsity status team in 1984. Under Coach B, the program has
a won/loss record of 709-171(.809). The 2026 team played one of the toughest schedules in recent history compiling a 15-7 won loss recond and laying claim to the CLASS LL STATE TITLE and THE CONNECTICUT TEAM OF THE YEAR!! The 2025 team played a highly competitive national schedule finishing with a record of 14-8 and being runner up in the Class LL State Champiionships. The 2024 team played another very competitive
schedules and reached the finals in both the FCIAC and State
Championships. The 2023 team reached the semi finals of both FCIAC and State play. while the 2022 season had the team winning its 19th FCIAC title and
ending the season with a tough loss in the State Championships. The 2021 season had
the team getting back on the field in state and compiling a 19-2 record and winning the
FCIAC Championship for the 18th time. The 2020 season was lost to the COVID 19
Pandemic, but the 2019 team finished at 17-5 and were FCIAC Eastern Division
Champs and the CLASS L STATE CHAMPS. The 2018 team was 22-1 FCIAC Champs
and Class L Runners-up, while the 2017 team was recognized in numerous polls as
NATIONAL CHAMPS after their undefeated season matching the 2016 Team with all
being a part of the longest winning streak in Connecticut Boys Lacrosse History at 76.
The program has garnered national recognition with fifteen state titles (1997, 2000,
2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2026), A LEAGUE
RECORD 19 FCIAC championships (1992, 1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004,
2005, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022), seven state
runner-up trophies, 33 trips to the state Final Four from (25 straight -1987-2012) - (6
straight - 2014-2019) and having been recognized as the Connecticut Team of the Year
in 2005, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2019 by CHSCA and the #1 ranked team in
Connecticut over twelve times.
We are appreciative of the fact that Ric Beardsley returned to the staff at DHS assuming the role of Co-Head Coach working alongside Coach B serving as the defensive coordinator. Ric is a former 4x All American defensive standout at Syracuse and a nationally recognized defensive clinician. Chris Schreiber returned to our varsity staff bringing a tremendous amount of expertise in coaching and playing. Chris was a top midfielder on two National championship teams at Johns Hopkins and is well known throughout the world of lacrosse. Former Darien AA - Peter Lindley returned to his alma mater to help with the offense, the goalie training and running the substitution box. Ivan Matson returned as the Head JV coach assisted by Tanner Strub who also worked heavily with our faceoff crew, while on the freshmen level we were fortunate to bring Matt Butler a former head coach from Stepincac High School to serve as the head coach and will be assisted by newcomer Denny Piatokowski.
